About Me

Hi, I'm Melody but you can call me Mel!

Hi! I am Melody Smith the owner and principal consultant of CAM Consulting Solutions.  I partner with business owners and leaders who deliver services that make a positive impact and improve lives. These business owners and leaders are passionate about what they do and have experienced growth in their organization so they can serve more people. However, their current HR or customer service processes (most of them manual) can’t keep up with the growth; the services they provide are beginning to suffer.

What these business leaders and owners want are organized and simplified processes to support their mission.

A Little About Me

I am an only child born in the midwest and raised in New Jersey. I am spoiled, but not a brat! My parents always kept me grounded, emphasizing and demonstrating the importance of education and service in and outside my own community.

I believe my purpose in life is to help others by providing solutions to enrich their lives. To stay focused on my purpose, I created a vision statement:

I strive to bring awareness and solutions to issues that negatively impact humanity with a vision that one day we will live in a world where there is respect and compassion for all.

My Happy Place

I fell in love with consulting because I like to solve problems and make ALL people happy.

I graduated with a B.S. from Boston University’s School of Hospitality Management and a couple of months later, opted for warmer weather, moving to Atlanta to get an MBA from Clark Atlanta University. I had grand aspirations of becoming an executive at a major hotel chain and then opening my own boutique hotel on a Caribbean island.

As it turned out, I did not get a job in Hospitality. After graduating from college and working for 2 years at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), I landed a career as a global HR Technology consultant. This gave me opportunities to explore the world implementing solutions to support processes that helped HR better serve employees. To date, I have traveled throughout North America, South America, Western Europe, Asia, and Oceania.

I finally settled down in my late 30s and stopped traveling for work. I wanted to be more present with my husband and son. I also needed to do more in my community. I began volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and Peer Coach, where I advocate for the needs of children in foster care due to abuse or neglect. I have been a CASA for many years. I hope my advocacy for children will break the cycle of abuse so many experiences even into adulthood.

Always Time For Fun

It’s hard for me to sit still sometimes when there is so much work to be done. However, when I do have some downtime, I still travel for fun! My husband is my travel partner for life, and we enjoy working on our bucket list of visiting every NFL stadium to watch the home team play his beloved Dallas Cowboys or my Baltimore Ravens!
